The DS 9 measures 4.93m long, 1.93m wide and 1.46m tall, with a sleek and elegant profile. The longer wheelbase not used for a saloon car before, significantly benefits rear passengers space. Its design has a sleek silhouette with a steeply raked rear window in a fastback style.
DS 9 has an expressive front face featuring the DS WINGS and the design of the grille with its three-dimensional diamond effect giving character. The front lighting features DS ACTIVE LED VISION technology with modules that swivel through by 180-degrees, and ‘Pearl’ motif daytime running lights.
A fluid style is delivered by a contour flowing from the grille over the bonnet, windscreen and roof to the boot. The sides are smooth with a taut line that goes from the front headlights to the tail lights. This character is emphasised by the body-coloured flush fitting door handles and a one-tone black roof which bring a refined, elegant design to the car.
At the rear, this desire to integrate every feature into a single expression is also evident. The rear wings, the badge and the boot lid are linked with the same fluidity. Embedded in this, the chiselled rear lights have the effect of scales, creating a contrast to give a dramatic three-dimensional effect. The elegantly thin third brake light helps make the rear appear wider and extends the visual effect of the rear window.
The sophistication of quality materials integrated on wide open surfaces, with a dashboard completely swathed in Nappa Leather and the watchstrap design of the seats supplements the care that’s been taken over every detail. The crystal-shaped touch-sensitive buttons, the Alcantara that covers the roof lining and the sun visors, and hand-stitched leather door panel inserts invite you to touch and appreciate them.
With its long 2.90 metre wheelbase, DS 9 offers a huge amount of space in the back seats. Seats are heated, cooled and massaging, a first in the class. The central armrest plays a part in the overall comfort, boasting features from segments above such as leather upholstery, storage areas with built-in USB ports, controls for the massaging seats and multi-coloured welcome lighting.
DS 9’s 12 inch digital instrument panel with stylish graphics can be fully personalised. It lets you see all the driving information you need by using a scrolling menu controlled via the steering wheel. The 12 inch HD central touchscreen lets you operate all the vehicle’s functions with a series of ‘virtual’ pushes as well as with a chrome and crystal controller. Features are just a click away: comfort, media and connectivity, safety (SOS & assistance), maintenance (via telemaintenance), connected navigation and entertainment (Mirror Screen: Android Auto, Apple CarPlay).
The E-TENSE plug-in hybrid features an 11.9kWh battery connected to a 110hp electric motor, a 1.6-litre PureTech petrol engine, and an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the DS 9 E-TENSE has a total power output of 225hp and 360Nm, of torque. The DS 9 has a fully electric range of 33 miles from a single charge, with the electric motor capable of driving the car in zero emissions mode up to 83mph.
With WLTP-approved CO2 emissions between 33-35g/km, DS 9 is an ideal solution for fleet drivers, with a BIK rate of just 11%, and a WLTP-approved economy of 177mpg, ensuring running and ownership costs remain low.
Electric mode is always automatically selected on start-up, with drivers able to choose between Hybrid and E-TENSE Sport mode. Hybrid mode seamlessly switches between electric and petrol power, depending on the driving scenario, while E-TENSE Sport gives drivers the maximum combined power from the petrol engine and electric motor. E-TENSE Sport also adjusts the throttle response, gearbox and steering response as well as the active suspension for a more dynamic drive experience.
DS 9 utilises the latest in energy recovery technology. When braking, the kinetic energy from the brakes is used to recharge the battery. This helps improve range by up to 20% when driving in town, while an E-Save function guarantees that there is always some energy left in the battery for zero-emissions driving.
The 7.4Kw on-board charger enables the battery to be fully charged in one hour 45 minutes, with drivers able to use the MyDS smartphone app to confirm their car’s current charge status, charge remaining, as well as control remote charging or precondition the interior.
